Το Πολεμικό Ναυτικό ήταν ενισχυμένες με το ανώτατο σημείο κατά τη διάρκεια της τελευταίας δεκαετίας. Οι αφίξεις της τάξης Ύδρα (MEKO 200 HN) και πιο φρεγάτες κλάσης Standard μαζί με τις παραγγελίες για περισσότερα πυραύλων κορβέτες, κλάση Ποσειδών υποβρύχιο τύπου 209 υποβρύχια και πολεμικά ελικόπτερα επιτρέπεται η συνταξιοδότηση των απαρχαιωμένων πλοίων.
Ταυτόχρονα, η Ελλάδα ήταν η πρώτη χώρα της Μεσογείου για να λάβετε βλήμα καταστροφείς, μετά τη μεταβίβαση των τεσσάρων Charles F. Adams κλάσης εχθρούς του αμερικανικού ναυτικού από το 1992. Και οι τέσσερις έχουν ήδη παροπλιστεί από τους ηλεκτρονικά και εξοπλιστικά ήταν άνευ αντικειμένου, ενώ απαιτείται μεγάλο πληρώματα.
Η εκ των προτέρων όταν συνεχίστηκαν Ελλάδα διέταξε υποβρύχια τύπου 214 που διαθέτουν air-ανεξάρτητο σύστημα πρόωσης, Sikorsky S-70B-6/10 Aegean Hawk Project ελικόπτερα και 1.232,2 Zubr κατηγορίας αερόστρωμνα από τη Ρωσία.
Πρόσφατες περιλαμβάνονται σχέδια εκσυγχρονισμού των φρεγατών Standard κατηγορία και με νέα ηλεκτρονικά συστήματα ραντάρ, ο Γλαύκος και ο εκσυγχρονισμός του Ποσειδώνα κατηγορίας με τα υποβρύχια νέο σόναρ, των ηλεκτρονικών και air-ανεξάρτητο μηχανές (προγράμματα Neptune 1 / 2).

The Hellenic Navy was enhanced to its maximum point during the last decade. The arrivals of Hydra class (MEKO 200 HN) and more Standard class frigates along with the orders for more missile corvettes, Poseidon class Type 209 submarine submarines and naval helicopters allowed the retirement of the obsolete vessels.
